In just over twenty four hours I'll be off to the airport for another four months back at sea. This year the waters are a little more frigid than the last couple of summers, I'll be in Alaska for the season.
A fair number of my coworkers wince and groan when they get an Alaskan itinerary but I quite enjoy it. Yes, it can be a little rainy sometimes and yes, it's not always warm and yes, it's not as historical as Europe. It's really nice to have fresh air and nature so close to a port though, it's nice to be able to see some pretty amazing wildlife (whales, bears and eagles) almost every day and it's nice, quite frankly, to be in a North American port with every stop; my phone bill thanks you.
So, Friday as of around noon, I'll be in the Seattle area for the day while I wait for the ship to arrive on Saturday morning. It's nice to get to the timezone slightly in advance so I can hit the ground running when I get to work because, at 4:30PM it's anchor's away!
