A vacation wouldn't be a vacation without four major things:
- Sleeping Excessively - by most standards I've been comatose for the last couple weeks.
- Cheap Food - stuff that's really terrible for you but of so tasty.
- Spending Money - we'll cover this in a minute.
- Travel - this is where I need to start focusing now.
So I've bought a few things from Amazon, nothing major I swear! Actually, two things I needed to replace since my trunk was lost in it's transfer between my last two ships; a new gerber multi-tool and a new flashlight. The only thing I have not yet purchased that I think may have to wait another contract or two is a new lens for my camera, the almighty Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 (see below). If anyone is interested in buying it for me let me know and I'll get you the shipping information!
I do have some plans set for the upcoming weekends starting with Thanksgiving; yes, I said Thanksgiving. For my American friends, Canadian thanksgiving is the second Monday in October and has been so for a relatively short period of time (since 1957). The simple way for you to remember this holiday north of the border is to know that it coincides with Columbus Day.
Anyway, now that we have our the-more-you-know moment out of the way I was saying that I have some travel plans set for that weekend. I'll be meeting up with a bunch of family to visit my aunt and uncle's place in Richmond Hill, just north of Toronto. The only person in my immediate family who will not be there is my sister who will be visiting for the next week and a half or so but will be flying home to Newfoundland at the beginning of October.
Those of you that know me will know that I will usually make a pilgrimage of sorts to Las Vegas. This vacation will be a little different... in the interest of saving money I'll be shortening my vacation from a week to a weekend and I'll be traveling to visit Los Angeles. On the way back I'll spend a day in Toronto and meet up with friends there for dinner, drinks and a Ben Fold Five concert.
When I get home from that trip it will likely be time to start planning my return to the ship... how break time flies by but it'll be time to start earning more money by then to stop mint.com from freaking out about my spending.
Those are my travel plans.
